"Cool" is out and "Sick" is in
Published by Christine Reymer on 5 May 2009.Call me old fashioned, but it's taken me a while to get used to hearing my kids say "that's sick!" or simply "sick!". I even had to ask exactly what it meant. I guess that was the same way parents felt when kids started using the word “cool” as an expression for something that was interesting, great or awesome as opposed to something that was cold. The new chosen word just seems a little more extreme and the alternative meanings more grotesque – but I guess that's the whole point.
It amazes me what kids come up with and exactly how do these trendy words start anyway?
